Magazines for Service Designers
If you’re not the kind of designer who gets excited about international peer-reviewed marketing journals on service design, until now you were out of luck if you were looking for anything else on the subject. The other design disciplines get most of the good ink.
No longer. Last month I stumbled across a fairly new publication called Good Magazine. It’s not really a service design magazine, but the September/October issue has some recognizable examples of service design inside. Another publication along these lines is Ode Magazine. Again, it may not be devoted to service design, but it’s still an inspiring read for service designers.
Both Good and Ode have at their heart if not an idealistic, then at least an optimistic outlook on what might otherwise be considered wicked problems for design. Good’s tagline is: for people who give a damn, while Ode’s is: for intelligent optimists. Together, those seem like two pretty important prerequisites for service designers.
